Presents for Baby Ezekiel

I've mentioned before that one of my little sisters Danetta is pregnant as well. Her due date is 5 days before mine, and she is also having a boy.

Her and her hubby Jordan are naming their son Ezekiel. They had their baby shower last Sunday. I got to go to California {just for 24 hours, cause Mitch had to work the day before and the day after.}

I got her a gift card,
but also had to make her some handmade stuff as well!!

This is a picture of the nursery bedding she is getting. Although her furniture will be a darker espresso brown.

They wanted books instead of cards. So of course I had to make a little book. It's a 4x4 inch counting book. Those buttons seriously took FOREVER to do!!! All 59 of them!

Here is the front.

Inside.

And back.

I signed it on the back, so he'd never forget it was Aunt Kimmy who taught him how to count in style, hehe!!!

I wanted to make her a decorative magnet board, and originally was gonna use a cookie sheet. But one day at the thrift store I ran across this, and at $1.99, it was perfect!

I sanded the shiny teflon finish off, drilled two holes, spray painted it espresso brown, added pretty scrapbook papers and a monogram, and finished it off with a textured Mod Podge finish and some matching ribbon.

And Tadaaaa!

In the next two pictures you can see the textured finish.

The reason I wanted a magnet board is because I made some bottlecap magnets. I also decorated an adorable keepsake tin to store them in. I figure once she takes the magnets out, the tin can store precious keepsake things, like a lock of hair and a tooth.

Here is the set together.

I took my husbands bad habits, and turned them into something cute! And at no extra cost!!!

Anyways, she just loved everything! I got a little embarrassed at the shower when she made a BIG deal outta my present, and it was the only one that got passed around.

I have some pictures of the shower, and my trip to Cali. I'll share them in a separate post, since this one is so long already!

MIA

I know I haven't been around, AT ALL! My sister got me into Sorority Life on Facebook, and I've become slightly obsessed. And I've also been busy.

I went to Cali for the same sisters baby shower. I made her {and baby Ezekiel} a bunch of cute stuff. I took pictures, so I promise I'll share. I had my best friend and also my cousin come up from Cali for a visit. I re finished a vanity. And me and Mitch painted our living room. I've taken lotsa pictures of my projects and stuff, and promise to share them all soon!

I promise I haven't forgotten all of my wonderful bloggy friends. Me and Riley are good!!! He is kicking lots and really hard now too. I start my 3rd trimester tomorrow!!! And my baby shower is next weekend. So it may still be just a little while longer before I give this blog and all my bloggy friends the love and attention they deserve. But I will be back! :o)

Riley's Bedding!!!

Today I finally finished Riley's crib bedding!!! It really didn't take me that long at all. I just slacked off, got preoccupied, or was busy some parts of some days!

But today I was determined to finish it, so I could share pictures with you all!!!

I know I said I wasn't gonna share until I got my mattress, so you can get the full effect with the crib sheet and all. But I changed my mind! I don't want you to have to wait until the end of the month!!! Heck, I can't wait till the end of the month to share! Lol!!!

So keep in mind that it'll look a little different {the bumpers will be higher, and you'll see several inches of the turquoise sheet covered mattress in between the skirt and bumpers.} But you'll still get the overall effect today!!! :o)

WaaaaLaaaaa!!!!

And a closer view!

First time ever doing a reverse applique monogram. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty dang proud of myself!!

Inside the crib.

And a picture of the sheet, to help you visualize what it'll look like in a month!!

So, that's it!!! I am SUPER happy with the way it turned out! I just sit in there and stare at my finished work.

Now I gotta get started on my shower invitations {because of course I'm the only creative one in my family, and can't stand the thought of store bought ones!!}

Then, more decorating of the nursery!!!
